Alter Ego (1985)
Directed by Peter Manoogian (Arena), another early Paul De Meo and Danny Bilson effort that was to star Jeffrey Byron (of Empire's The Dungeonmaster) as a sci-fi hero pitched halfway between Mandroid and Jack Deth. The film never got beyond initial planning due to lack of interest from international buyers. Brian Yuzna (Re-Animator) and Rob Goethals (Swamp Thing) were also attached as producer & writer at a stage prior to Bilson/De Meo coming on board.

A Futuristic thriller that was to have been directed by Larry Cohen (It's Alive) that apparently concerned "Big Brother'" types controlling the masses through apparatus attached to thier bodies. Abandoned also when Empire Pictures folded.

Another take on Empire's Robot Jox, this time there would be giant dinosaur robots. I've seen poster art on a Videozone, but can't remember which one it was.

Beasties (1983) (AKA, "Ghoulies 0")
Charles Band had planned producing and directing this Gremlins "knock off" before the Spielberg movie even hit theatres. It was intented to have Creature effects by future Oscar Winner Stan Winston, whom had worked with Charlie on the film Parasite. There may not have been a script at the time, eventually the star of Parasite, actor turned writer/director Luca Bercovici (American Flyers, The Granny) came in with a new script co-written by Jefrey Levy (Man of God) under the "GHOULIES" title. Stan Winston had no involvement with the production of the film. Ghoulies was finally released in 1985.

The Best of Sex and Violence II
The original Wizard Video compilation film featured clips and previews from a number of exploitation films including Tourist Trap, and hosted by famed horror star John Carradine, with cameos by his sons David and Keith. The first film ended with the caption telling us to “Watch For The Best Of Sex And Violence II!”

Bloody Bess (1987)
Stuart Gordon planned this adventure movie around the time he was making From Beyond, and also first attempting to raise a decent budget for his pet project The Shadow Over Innsmouth. It was to star Jeffrey Combs, and Barbara Crampton as a female pirate, out to drink rum, steal gold, and generally show the boys a thing or two about buckling swashes. Rumour has it ex-Empire director Renny Harlin (Prison, Die Hard 2) must have liked the idea, since he lifted it for his 1995 box-office bomb Cutthroat Island, which I have never bothered to watch.

The Bottled City of Shandar (1986)
Movie about a miniture city in a glass bottle thing. I suspect the concept was eventually made into 1998's kid's film The Shrunken City, directed by Ted Nicolaou (Subspecies) for Full Moon's pre-teen label Pulsepounders.

Obvious sequel to Charles Band's Head of the Family, wanted to see it made but could not get an agreement from fellow Full Moon executives. I hear a teaser was promoted in the Videozone to Shrieker I think. Charles Band constantly talked about making it but he's sure taking his sweet time.
